Removal of paint stains (oil based)

Oil-based paint stains often happen by mistake (some wet paint you did not notice) or by painting walls and ceilings.
The drier the stain, the heavier it will get removed.

Gently remove as much of the paint stain as possible with a spoon. Dab the stained area with a cloth soaked in solvent as on the tin. This might be turpentine, white spirit or methylated spirits. Quite often, this is white spirit.

If the stains persist, use butter or lard. Allow to penetrate for a whole day and then remove the stain with a cloth soaked in turpentine.

You can also remove paint stains by careful use of oven cleaning products. Apply for no more than 15 minutes. Sponge up and rinse well.
