Removing a grease stain on leather (jacket, sofa, chair, shoes, bag)

How to remove a grease stain on leather clothes (jacket, trousers, skirt, shoes) or furniture (sofa, chair).

Leather is expensive, a stain on it is a pity. These tips and tricks may help.

To remove a recent grease stain, sprinkle talcum powder on the leather. Wait several hours and then brush it. Repeat if necessary.

If grease stains are old, reheat them using the hot air from a hairdryer.
Clear one area after another, being careful to keep the hairdryer at a safe distance from the leather (at least 10 cm) and only for a few seconds.
Then sprinkle talcum powder or diatomaceous earth (or diatomite) on the grease stains or, alternatively, rub the still warm leather with a clean cloth dampened with a few drops of benzene.

You can also remove grease stains by applying a paste made of methylated spirits and crushed chalk. Once the paste dries, brush it gently.

To remove a grease stain on imitation leather (sofa, trousers, jacket, coat, skirt), remove the stain as quickly as possible with a cloth soaked in soapy water with a few drops of white vinegar.

You can also rub the stain gently with bread after removing the crust.
